Education & Selected Professional Achievements:
Judith Kimbrell received her Bachelor degree from Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, MI. Her additional studies in photography were at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Her career has been varied working for as Staff Photographer for R.J. Michael's, Inc. (an advertising agency in Jackson, MI), Studio Manager and Second Shooter for Don Jones Photography (a commercial photography studio in Colorado Springs, CO), and Photography Faculty at Pikes Peak Community College also in Colorado Springs. She also owns her own photography business, Mother Nature Photography.

About Teaching: "A teacher’s job is to be true to the subject, deliver the information in the most clear and thorough way possible, engage the student, help the student to find their true passion, help them develop creativity and style, and aide them to execute their work as well as possible."

Education:

  • BA in ceramics and a minor in photography from Stephen F. Austin State University
  • MA/MFA from the University of Dallas.

Professional Achievements:
He joined the adjunct art faculty at Pikes Peak Community College in 2007 and became a permanent half-time faculty member in 2009. He has served as the chair of the ceramics department since the fall of 2008. Lance has been an artist/potter for over 30 years. Lance produces a wide range of High-Fire Functional and Decorative Vessels. He also produces Ash Glazed, Raku, Faux-Raku, Saggar and Multi-Fired pieces. He has conducted workshops in kiln building, wheel throwing and kiln firing. Lance has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Central America, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. He enjoys the exchange of concepts and methodology with other artists. His work is exhibited in local galleries and shows in the West throughout the year. Lance is a member of Commonwheel Artists COOP and has a working studio/gallery in downtown Colorado Springs at Cottonwood Center for the Arts. When he is not working, he enjoys fishing, hiking, prospecting, exploring in his Jeep or riding his Vespa.
